Our first meeting with Hope Cottage

Hey everyone! (I've been on an Arrested Development kick, so I totally said that like Buster in my head "Hey Brother.")

Today we had our first meeting with the adoption agency, and it went really well. Our appointment was at 11am, so Matt went to work in the morning and picked me up at 10 to head over there. We unintentionally matched shirts (white dress shirts) and although I was looking very Anthropologie-meets-J. Crew in a bright orange eyelet skirt with a thick brown belt and Matt was wearing grey dress pants, we realized that we matched from the waist up. I definitely made a point to stand up when the lady entered the room so she could see that we weren't some weirdos who matched like a family portrait.

Without going into all the details, she told us about the program and asked questions about us. We learned that the next step will be a training meeting. They are actually having one tomorrow, but of course it is full and short notice, so the next one will be sometime in June or July. She told us that they usually limit those to 6 couples, and they already have 3 or 4 on the list. We told her, based on everything discussed that we felt confident to go ahead ask to be put on the list for the next training.  She has to review our file with her superior, and together they will decide if we are good to go on the training. She said, though, that she sees no reason why we wouldn't be invited to the training.

After the training, we will be able to set up a time for the home study. The home study will include her coming to our home and doing individual interviews with Matt and me.  From that day she has 30 days to give us a thumbs up or down. If we get the thumbs up, we will be able to submit a profile for a birth mother to choose from. I am actually pretty excited about making our profile!
